Product details

This genuine Electrolux group sensor, part 4055330791, is a fridge part. Our records group it with refrigeration parts but don't say which position it takes, for example a fridge, freezer or defrost sensor, and there's no model list on file. It suits repairers who already know the number they need, or owners who can match it to the code on the old sensor or the parts list for their model.

How a faulty fridge sensor upsets cooling

Modern fridges rely on sensors, usually thermistors, to tell the control board how cold each compartment is and when the evaporator needs defrosting. The board then runs the compressor, fans, dampers and defrost heater to suit. When a sensor drifts or goes open circuit, the fridge can run too warm or freeze food, the compressor may run constantly, ice can build up on the back wall, or the display may show an error code. A sensor's resistance can be measured and compared with the values in the service information.

Testing and replacing the sensor

Unplug the fridge first. Find the old sensor by following its lead from the control board or checking the service manual, and compare its plug and lead length with the replacement. Many fridge sensors are clipped in place and joined with a plug or crimp connectors, and any joins should be sealed against moisture. Give the fridge 24 hours to settle back to temperature.

Questions about this part

How can I confirm this is the right sensor?

Check the part number on the old sensor's lead or label, or look it up in the parts list for your fridge. You can also send the model and PNC from the rating plate inside the fridge through the parts enquiry form and we'll check.
