Why your recirculating rangehood still smells

In recirculation mode a rangehood pulls cooking fumes through the metal grease filters and then through activated carbon, which absorbs smells before the air goes back into the room. Changing the carbon filter

Turn the rangehood off and let the lights cool. Unclip the metal grease filters to reach the carbon filter behind them. Carbon filters usually twist or clip onto the fan housing, so note how the old one comes off and fit the new one the same way. Wash the grease filters while they're out. If your hood has a filter reminder, reset it once the new filter is in.
