What the filter panel does in an AEG rangehood
The filter panel closes off the underside of the rangehood and holds the grease filtering surface in the path of rising steam and smoke. A panel that's warped or has a broken catch can sag, rattle when the fan runs, or let air bypass the filter, which pulls grease straight into the motor and ducting. You'll notice weaker extraction, more noise and sticky build up inside the hood. Keeping the panel clean and properly seated helps the fan do its job.

Fitting the filter panel
Switch the rangehood off and let the lights cool before you start. Support the old panel as you release its catches so it doesn't drop onto the cooktop. Fit the new assembly the same way the old one came out, then click the catches home. Run the fan on high and listen for rattles to confirm it's seated.
