What happens when an anti back flow seal fails

Washers move water through several stages, filling, washing, draining and rinsing, and some points in that path need a one way seal so dirty water can't creep back where it shouldn't go. Questions about this part

Is this the same as the door seal?

No. On a front loader the door seal is the large rubber boot around the door opening. This is a small packing that stops water flowing back through part of the washer's water path. If your leak is around the door, you need the door seal for your model instead.
