Fitting a burner knob

Make sure every burner is off and the cooktop is cool. Pull the old knob straight up off the spindle, then line the new knob's flat up with the spindle's flat and press it on firmly. Check it turns smoothly, pushes in where needed, and points to off when closed. Any work beyond the knob must be done by a licensed gas fitter on gas models, or a licensed electrician on electric ones.
