Product details

Fisher & Paykel's genuine fan motor kit 322543P is listed for the N308 and N388 fridge freezer models. It comes as an assembly, so you're replacing the motor as a complete unit rather than repairing it. Before ordering, check that your fridge's model number begins with N308 or N388, and compare the code on your old fan motor with 322543P if you can see it.

Fisher & Paykel N388 fridge not cooling? Check the fan motor

In a fan-cooled fridge freezer, the fan pushes cold air off the cooling coil and around the cabinet. When the motor fails, the coil can still frost up and get cold, but that cold stays put. The freezer may hold temperature while the fridge section slowly warms, food spoils sooner, and you might hear nothing at all from inside. Other times there's a grinding, squealing or ticking noise as worn bearings drag or the blade catches on ice. A fan that stops and starts can also point to the motor.

Part details

  • Genuine Fisher & Paykel part 322543P
  • Fan motor assembly kit
  • Listed for N308 and N388 fridge freezers
  • Replaces the motor as a complete assembly

Changing the fan motor

Turn the fridge off at the wall and pull the plug before you start. Move food to an esky and let any ice around the fan area melt, as forcing a frozen blade or cover can crack the plastic. Take a photo of the wiring and how the motor sits before you unclip it, then fit the new assembly the same way. Once it's running, check the fan spins freely and the fridge cools down over the next few hours.

Questions about this part

My model is N388L. Will this kit fit?

The kit is recorded against the N308 and N388 models, and the letters after N388 usually mark a door hinge or finish variation. Fisher & Paykel can change parts within a model run, so send your full model number and product code through the parts enquiry form if you'd like it checked.
