Swapping the knob
With the oven switched off, grip the old knob firmly and pull it straight towards you. Check the spindle isn't bent or loose. Line the new knob up with the flat side of the spindle, push it on until it seats and check the pointer matches the off position. If a knob is very tight, a cloth looped behind it gives an even pull.
