Westinghouse wok burner clicking but not lighting

When you push and turn the knob, the ignition module sends a high voltage pulse down the lead to this electrode, which sparks across to the burner and lights the gas. If the ceramic cracks, the tip burns away or the lead breaks down, the spark weakens or jumps somewhere else. You will hear clicking but the wok burner won't catch, or there is no spark at that burner while the others work. Spills and cleaning water are common causes, so dry the burner well and check the cap sits correctly before blaming the electrode.

Replacing the wok burner electrode

Turn off the gas and switch the cooktop off at the wall before starting. As the electrode sits in the gas burner assembly, this work should be done by a licensed gas fitter. The lead runs under the cooktop to the ignition module, so note its path and the module terminal before removing the old one. Keep the new lead away from hot parts and sharp edges, then test the spark on every burner.
