A belt this long wraps right around the drum of a tumble dryer and turns it from the motor pulley. Tumble dryer drum not turning?
In a belt-driven dryer, the belt runs around the outside of the drum, past a spring loaded idler pulley and onto the motor shaft. When it snaps, the motor still runs and the dryer may even heat, but the drum stays still and clothes come out damp. Some dryers have a belt switch that stops the machine once the belt breaks. A stretched or glazed belt slips, squeals or thumps, and the drum may need a push to get going. Check the idler pulley for wear while the belt is off.

Changing the dryer belt
Unplug the dryer and let it cool. Depending on the model, the belt is reached by removing the top and front panels or the back cover. Wrap the new belt around the drum with the ribs facing the same way as the old one, then loop it under the idler pulley and over the motor shaft. Turn the drum by hand a few times to centre it before reassembling.
