Product details

Asko's long neck fan forced element, part 288977, is the genuine 2000W ring element that heats the air blown around the oven by the rear fan. It's also listed as 77X2277. Models on file are the Asko OP8620 and OP8640, the OP8650 and OP8651, and the OT8620, plus product number 106OP86511. The long neck matters, so check your old element matches before ordering.

Asko oven fan running but no heat

When fan bake is selected, this element warms the air that the rear fan circulates through the cavity. If the element burns out, the fan carries on spinning and the oven light comes on, but the temperature barely moves or the oven takes much longer than normal to get there. Sometimes the household safety switch trips the moment fan mode is selected, which points to a short in the element sheath. If the conventional bake and grill settings still heat but fan modes don't, this element is the most likely cause.

Fitting the Asko fan element

Isolate the oven at the switchboard and wait for it to cool. Take out the shelves and the fan cover at the back of the cavity, then remove the element's fixing screws. Withdraw the long neck carefully and note how the terminals are wired at the rear before disconnecting them. A hard-wired oven needs a licensed electrician to reconnect it.

Questions about this part

What does long neck mean?

It refers to the length of the section between the heating ring and the terminal end. An element with a different neck length may not reach the terminals or mount correctly, so compare your old element or check your model against the list for 288977.
