Fridge not cooling and the compressor running hot
The condenser fan pulls air over the condenser coil and across the compressor, carrying away the heat the fridge removes from inside the cabinets. If the motor stops, that heat has nowhere to go. The compressor runs hotter and longer, the fridge and freezer slowly warm up, and you may hear the compressor clicking off on its overload. A noisy, squealing or slow fan, or a blade that won't spin freely by hand with the power off, are early signs the motor bearings are on the way out.

Replacing the condenser fan motor
Unplug the fridge before touching anything. Remove the rear access panel, usually at the bottom, then take the fan blade off the motor shaft and note which way it faces. Unbolt the motor from its bracket, transfer the bracket if needed, and connect the new motor using the same plug or wiring. Clean the dust off the condenser while you're there and check the fan spins freely before powering up.
