Oven losing heat or steaming at the door? Replace the seal
The door seal closes the gap between the oven door and the cavity so heat and moisture stay inside. Over time the seal hardens, flattens, frays or tears, especially at the corners and near the hinges. A worn seal lets hot air escape around the door, so the oven takes longer to heat, cooks unevenly, steams up the front, and can make the control panel, knobs and nearby cabinetry run hot. You may also see grease marks or scorching around the door edge where hot air has been leaking out.

Fitting the oven door seal
Switch the oven off at the isolator and make sure it is cold. Note how the old seal is fixed, usually with clips or hooks into holes around the oven cavity, and where the join sits. Remove it and clean the channel. Start fitting the new seal at the top centre, ease it around the corners, push each clip home and finish with the join where the old one was.
