A good door seal keeps the heat inside the oven so it reaches temperature quickly and holds it evenly. Seals harden, flatten, fray and tear over time, and the hooks or clips that hold them often break when the oven is cleaned. Fitting the oven door seal
Make sure the oven is off at the wall and completely cold. Opening the door wide or removing it gives the best access. Gently pull the old seal out, noting how it's held, often with wire hooks pushed into holes around the cavity. Start the new seal at the top centre, work around the corners evenly without stretching it, and close the join at the bottom.
