When a dishwasher lower basket needs replacing
The lower basket holds plates, pots and larger items in the path of the lower spray arm. Once the coating on the wires cracks, rust spreads and leaves orange marks on dishes and inside the tub. Broken or bent tines let plates fall against the spray arm and stop it turning, which leads to poor wash results. Worn wheels make the basket drag and jump off its rails, and a basket that won't slide out easily soon gets loaded badly.

Fitting the new basket
Pull the old basket out and lift it clear of the door rails. Check whether the wheels or any fold-down tine sections need to come across from the old basket. Sit the new basket on the rails, then roll it in and out a few times to make sure it runs smoothly and clears the lower spray arm.
