Dishwasher basket coming off its rails?

Upper baskets in most dishwashers run on rails, and each rail end is closed with a plastic cap. The front cap takes the knocks, because the basket hits it every time it's pulled out fully. Once it cracks or falls off, the basket can roll off the end of the rail, sit crooked or jam when you push it back in. Fitting the rail cap

Pull the basket out and lift it clear of the rails if needed. Remove any pieces of the broken cap left in the rail end. Push the new cap onto the front end of the rail until it clicks or sits flush, then refit the basket and roll it in and out a few times to make sure it stops where it should.
