A burner cap has to sit perfectly flat on the burner head to shape the flame. Seating the new burner cap
Turn every burner off at the knob and let the cooktop cool. Lift off the trivet and the old cap, then wipe the burner head clean and dry. Place the new cap so it drops fully onto its locating point and can't rock. Light the burner and check the flame is blue and even all the way around. Any gas smell or leak is a job for a licensed gas fitter.
