Chef or Electrolux oven losing heat around the door
This seal runs around the front of the oven cavity, so the door presses against it when closed, sealing in heat and moisture. A sound seal helps the oven reach temperature and hold it, and stops hot air escaping onto the controls and benchtop. With age the material hardens and flattens, sections tear or the clips holding it break. Warning signs include steam escaping at the door edges, food cooking unevenly near the door, slower preheating and scorch marks on the fascia above the door.

Fitting the cavity seal
Switch the oven off at the isolating switch and wait until it's completely cool. Open the door and pull the old seal out of the cavity front, noting where the two clips sit and where the join falls. Fit the clips of the new seal in the same spots, then press the rest of the seal evenly into place around the opening. Close the door and check it seals all the way round.
