When heat leaks out along the bottom of the oven door, the lower seal is the first thing to look at. Part 1760014654 is the genuine Chef lower door seal, 410mm long and held with two clips, and it is also referenced as 40403. Why a worn lower seal lets a Chef oven lose heat
This seal closes the gap along the bottom edge where the door meets the oven front. With it in good shape, heat stays in the cavity and the oven holds its set temperature. Once it hardens, splits or a clip lets go, hot air escapes under the door. Typical signs are knobs and cabinet fronts getting hotter than usual, slow or uneven baking with pale results near the door, longer preheat times and a smell of burning as crumbs and fat cook onto the exposed edge.

Changing the lower door seal
Make sure the oven is cold and switched off at the wall or isolator. Opening the door fully gives the best access to the bottom edge. Ease the two clips out of their holes, noting which way they face, then press the new clips home firmly so the seal lies flat along its full 410mm length. Run the oven for a short time and feel along the door for escaping heat.
