The control board reads the temperature sensors and decides when to run the compressor, the fans and, on frost free models, the defrost cycle. When it fails, the symptoms can look like other faults. Changing the fridge control board
Unplug the fridge at the wall before you open the board cover. Photograph every plug and its position on the old board, then move the connectors across one at a time so nothing gets swapped. Hold the new board by its edges to avoid static damage. Once it's in, give the fridge several hours to reach temperature before loading food back in, and check that both the fridge and freezer sections are cooling.
