Product details

Our records list genuine freezer door gasket 1760008575 for the Westinghouse RJ532T fridge freezer. Westinghouse's older number for the same seal is 1444246, which you may find on the old gasket or in the service manual. The gasket is the flexible seal around the freezer door that holds it shut and keeps the cold in. Only the freezer door seal is included, so the fresh food door needs its own gasket if that one has also failed.

Is your Westinghouse freezer door seal letting air in?

A freezer door gasket keeps warm, moist kitchen air out. Once it splits, hardens or loses its grip on the cabinet, that air gets in and turns to frost. Common signs are a thick layer of ice near the top of the freezer or around the door opening, a door that drifts open, droplets on the gasket, and a compressor that runs for long stretches. Try the paper test. Close the door on a sheet of paper in a few places and pull it. If it slides out easily, the seal is no longer doing its job.

Changing the freezer door seal

Turn the fridge off at the wall. Depending on the door, the gasket either pushes into a channel or is held under the inner door liner by screws. Fit the new seal at room temperature, since a cold gasket is stiff and hard to seat. If it arrives creased from packing, warm the folds gently with a hair dryer on low until they relax, then close the door and check it seals all round.

Questions about this part

My fridge is an RJ532 with a different letter. Will this seal fit?

Not necessarily. The letter at the end of a Westinghouse model often marks a different version. Our records tie this gasket to the RJ532T. For any other version, send the full model number from the label inside the fridge through our parts enquiry form.
