Oven grill not working on a Euro or Arc oven
Grilling relies on this element glowing red hot to brown and crisp food from above. Repeated heating and cooling, plus fat splashes, eventually break the internal coil, and once that happens the grill stays cold even though the oven light and fan may still come on. Some elements fail with a bang and trip the safety switch, while others show a bubble, split or burnt spot on the sheath. A multimeter reading across the terminals confirms an open circuit.

Changing the grill element
Isolate the oven at the switchboard and let it cool, then have a licensed electrician carry out the replacement on a hard-wired installation. The terminals are usually reached from the back of the oven. Record which wire goes where before disconnecting, fit the new element so it sits level and clear of the oven roof, and run the grill for a few minutes to burn off any coating.
