Oven not heating on some settings? Test the selector switch
Turning the function knob rotates this switch, which routes power to the right combination of elements, fan and light for each cooking mode. When contacts inside burn or wear, some functions stop working while others are fine, for example the grill heats but fan bake does nothing. Other symptoms include the oven heating with the knob set to off, a light that will not go out, a burnt smell near the control panel, or a knob that turns loosely without clicking into each position.

Fitting the selector switch
Isolate the oven at the switchboard before removing the control panel. Take clear photos of every wire on the old switch, or label them, as the terminal positions must be matched exactly. Pull the knob off, release the switch from the panel and transfer the wires one at a time. Ovens that are hard-wired must be reconnected by a licensed electrician.
