Product details

Genuine convection motor 17471100000151 drives the fan at the back of the oven cavity, the fan that spreads heat evenly in fan forced cooking. It comes from the 17471100000 parts series used on Euro and Artusi ovens. We don't hold a model list for this motor, so check the number on your old motor, or send your oven's model number through the parts enquiry form and we'll confirm the match.

Oven fan not spinning? Signs of a worn convection motor

In fan modes, the convection motor spins a bladed fan that pulls air across the element and pushes it back around the food. When the motor wears out, the oven may still heat but cook unevenly, with burnt edges on one side and pale patches elsewhere. Other signs include a fan that doesn't turn at all, a fan that starts slowly or needs a nudge, a grinding or squealing noise that gets worse as the oven warms up, and a humming motor with a stationary blade. Worn bearings are the usual cause.

Changing the convection motor

Isolate the oven at the switchboard before you begin. Remove the racks and the fan cover inside the cavity, then hold the fan blade and undo its nut. On many ovens that nut has a reverse thread, so check before forcing it. The motor itself is reached from the back of the oven. A licensed electrician should reconnect hard-wired ovens.

Questions about this part

Does the motor come with a new fan blade?

This listing is for the convection motor. If your old blade is in good condition, move it across to the new motor shaft. Replace the blade too if it is bent, rusted or rubbing, as a damaged blade can wear out the new motor's bearings early.
