Product details

Running a rangehood in recirculation mode means the air comes back into the kitchen, so a charcoal filter is what removes the cooking smells. Genuine BSH filter 17006837 does that job for Bosch, Siemens and Neff rangehoods built to take it. Size, shape and pack quantity aren't recorded with us, so match the number on your current filter or in your rangehood manual before ordering.

When to change a rangehood charcoal filter

Ducted rangehoods vent outside, but a recirculating rangehood pulls fumes through a grease filter and then through activated charcoal, which absorbs odours before the air is returned. The charcoal fills up over time. Once it's saturated, cooking smells linger in the house even with the fan on high, and airflow can drop. Unless your rangehood manual says the filter is a regenerating type, charcoal is replaced rather than washed. Your manual will also give the recommended change interval for your model and cooking habits.

Changing the charcoal filter

Turn the rangehood off and let the lights and fan cool. Remove the grease filters to reach the charcoal filter, which usually twists, clips or slides into place over the fan inlet. Take out the old filter, noting its orientation, and fit the new one the same way. Refit the grease filters and run the fan to check nothing rattles. Some models have a filter reminder that can be reset from the controls.

Questions about this part

Do I need this filter if my rangehood is ducted outside?

No. A charcoal filter is only needed when the rangehood recirculates air back into the kitchen. Ducted installations send fumes outside and just need clean grease filters.
