Westinghouse top loader not filling with cold water

This valve has two outlets, each opened by its own solenoid, so the machine can send cold water along different paths as it fills. If either coil burns out, the machine may fill slowly, fill with hot water only, or stop with a water supply error. A valve that won't close properly lets water keep running in after the cycle ends, or overfills the bowl. Before blaming the valve, make sure the cold tap is fully open, the hose isn't kinked and the inlet screen isn't blocked.

Fitting the cold valve

Unplug the machine and turn off both taps. Remove the cold hose, then take off the panel that gives access to the valves at the back. Photograph the two wiring plugs and the outlet hoses so each one goes back on the correct port, as swapping them can send water to the wrong place. Fit the new valve, reconnect everything and watch the first fill for leaks.
