Product details
If a burner lights but goes out as soon as you let go of the knob, the thermocouple is the usual suspect. 140173583034 is the genuine 500mm thermocouple for the Phoenix burner on Electrolux group gas cooktops. It's the flame failure sensor that keeps gas flowing only while a flame is present. Length matters here, as thermocouples for different burner positions on the same cooktop can differ.
Gas burner won't stay lit? How the thermocouple works
The tip of the thermocouple sits in the flame. Heat makes it produce a tiny voltage that holds open a magnet valve in the gas tap. If the flame blows out, the tip cools, the voltage drops and the valve shuts off the gas within seconds. When a thermocouple fails, or its tip is bent away from the flame or coated in grime, the burner will light while you hold the knob in but go out when you release it. Burners that cut out on low or after a few minutes can point the same way.

Fitting a cooktop thermocouple
This is a gas safety device, so the replacement should be done by a licensed gas fitter. The gas supply is turned off and power to the ignition isolated before the cooktop is lifted. The old thermocouple is unscrewed from the gas tap and released from the burner, and the new one is routed along the same path without sharp kinks. Every burner is then tested to check it holds a flame once the knob is released.
Questions about this part
Is 500mm the right length for my burner?
The length needs to match the original, as different burner positions can use different leads. Check your parts list for 140173583034, or measure the old thermocouple from its tip to the nut at the gas tap end and compare.
