Cracked or shattered outer glass on a Westinghouse oven door
The outer panel forms the front face of the oven door and keeps hands away from the hot inner layers. Pyrolytic doors use several layers of glass with air gaps between them so the outside stays cooler during the high heat cleaning cycle. Because the outer layer takes the knocks, it is often the one that gets chipped by a pot, cracked by a bump or broken by thermal stress. A cracked outer glass should be replaced before the oven is used again, as damaged glass can break further with heat. Panel edges that have lifted or warped are another reason to change it.

Replacing the outer door glass
Switch the oven off at the isolator and let it cool completely. Most doors are easiest to work on removed from the oven and laid flat on a towel, so check your manual for the hinge locking steps. Take photos as you go and keep each glass layer in its original order and orientation. Wear gloves when handling broken glass. Once the door is back together, make sure it closes evenly and meets the seal all the way round.
