Replacing a damaged Westinghouse oven door front
The outer door panel takes the knocks in a busy kitchen. It can crack from an impact, get scorched or discoloured, or have its trim and handle mounts damaged. Because it's the outermost layer of the door, a broken panel exposes the inner glass and insulation and leaves the door looking rough. A cracked outer glass can also spread with heating and cooling. Replacing the complete outer assembly is usually simpler than trying to repair individual pieces, and it brings the oven front back to how it should look.

Fitting the outer door assembly
Switch the oven off at the wall and let it cool. Lift the door off its hinges with a helper, as 90cm doors are heavy and awkward, and lay it face down on a soft surface. Photograph each layer and screw position as you strip the old panel off, then move across any parts not supplied with the new assembly, such as the inner glass, in the same order.
