Product details

Part 140150401028 is a genuine Electrolux group auto closer bearing for the left hand side of a fridge door. It works at the hinge to help the door swing shut on its own once it's nearly closed. This is the BC version, and the matching right hand bearing is sold separately as 140150401010. No model list is on file, so check the number on the old bearing or confirm your fridge model.

Fridge door not closing on its own?

Auto closer bearings typically use a shaped cam at the hinge so the weight of the door pulls it closed through the last part of its swing. When the bearing cracks or wears, the door can stay ajar, bounce back open, sag or squeak. A door that doesn't close fully lets warm air in, which leads to frost, condensation, spoiled food and the compressor running longer than it should. If the door also sits crooked, check the hinge screws and the levelling feet, as a fridge tilted forward can stop any closer working properly.

Changing the auto closer bearing

Cut power to the fridge at the wall socket, then empty the door shelves to take weight off the hinge. You'll usually need to lift the door off its hinge to reach the bearing, so have a helper hold it. Note the orientation of the old bearing before removing it. After fitting, check the door closes smoothly from part open and that the seal meets the cabinet all round.

Questions about this part

Do I need the left or the right bearing?

This is the left hand version. Left and right are normally judged standing in front of the fridge, but the safest check is the number on your old bearing. The right hand version is 140150401010.
