Dryer running but not heating?
The heater warms the air that's drawn through the drum. If the dryer tumbles normally but clothes come out cold and damp after a full cycle, the element is a prime suspect. Elements can break open, short to the casing and trip the safety switch, or burn out after running hot behind a clogged lint filter or blocked vent. A thermal fuse or cut-out can also stop the heat, so test those as well. Check the element for continuity with a multimeter before you order.

Fitting the dryer heater
Unplug the dryer and let it cool. Remove the back or side panel to reach the heater, and photograph the wiring and any thermostats mounted on it. Fit the new assembly, reconnect each wire to the same terminal, and vacuum lint out of the housing while it's open. Run a cycle to confirm heat.

Restricted airflow is the most common cause. A clogged lint filter, crushed duct or blocked vent makes the element run hot and fail early. Clean the filter every load and clear the venting when you fit the new heater.
