How an NTC sensor affects fridge temperature
An NTC thermistor changes its electrical resistance as the temperature changes, and the control board reads that resistance to work out how cold a compartment or air duct is. If the sensor drifts, breaks or its lead is damaged, the board gets the wrong information. That can mean a fresh food section that's too warm or freezing food, the compressor or fans running at the wrong times, or an error code or alarm on models with a display. A resistance check with a multimeter, compared against the actual temperature, is the usual test.

Fitting the sensor harness
Unplug the fridge before you start. Remove the panel or duct cover where the old sensor sits, noting exactly where its tip is clipped, because the position affects the reading. Disconnect the harness at its plug, route the new one along the same path and secure it with the original clips or ties. Refit the covers and give the fridge a day to settle.
