Because a freezer drawer is pulled straight out, its seal relies heavily on the magnetic strip to draw the front tight against the cabinet. Once the gasket splits, hardens or picks up a permanent fold, warm air sneaks in. Signs include heavy frost on food and the drawer walls, ice forming along the top edge, a drawer that drifts open, or condensation on the outside of the drawer front. Changing the drawer seal

Unplug the fridge and empty the drawer into an esky or cooler bag. Pull the drawer out and, if it lifts off its runners, set it face down on a soft surface. Ease the old seal out of its channel starting at a corner. Warm the new seal so it's supple, press it in evenly all round, refit the drawer and check the seal meets the cabinet with no gaps.
