Mounted on the back of the cabinet, this solenoid valve is the gatekeeper between your household water line and the fridge. It stays shut until the fridge asks for water, then opens long enough to fill the ice tray or run the dispenser. A failed coil means no water and no ice, while a valve that won't close fully causes drips, overfilled ice trays, ice blocks in the bin or a slow leak behind the fridge.
