Dryer door won't stay closed or dryer won't start?
The tappet is the small catch on the door that pushes into the latch on the cabinet when you close the door. It holds the door shut so the dryer can detect that it's closed and start the drum. Plastic tappets wear, crack or snap with use, especially if the door is slammed or leant on. Without a sound tappet the door won't latch, so it may spring open, the dryer may refuse to start, or it may stop partway through a cycle when the door shifts.

Replacing the door tappet
Unplug the dryer and open the door wide. Look at how the old tappet is held on the door, which may be by clips or a screw under the inner door panel, and remove what's left of it. Fit the new tappet in the same position, then close the door gently to check it catches firmly and releases without force. Run a short program to confirm the dryer starts.
