Product details

Part 140047263193 is a genuine Electrolux thermocouple with a 750mm lead for gas cooking appliances from the Electrolux group. A thermocouple is the flame failure device on a gas burner. Its tip sits in the flame, and while it's hot it holds the gas valve open. The 750mm length suits installations where the burner is a fair distance from the gas control, so compare it with your old one before ordering.

Gas burner lights then goes out

The classic thermocouple fault is a burner that fires up while the knob is held in, then goes out the moment the knob is released. That happens when the thermocouple can no longer produce enough voltage to keep the safety valve open. Tips can burn away, crack or get coated in grease and carbon, and the connection at the valve can work loose. Check that the tip sits properly in the flame and is clean before replacing the part, because a misaligned tip gives the same symptom.

Fitting by a licensed gas fitter

Gas work in Australia must be carried out by a licensed gas fitter. Shut off the gas and isolate power to the appliance first. Route the new lead along the original path, away from hot surfaces and sharp edges, and avoid tight bends. Seat the tip in the same position in the burner, tighten the valve end correctly, then leak test and confirm the burner stays alight.

Questions about this part

Is a longer thermocouple OK if mine is shorter?

Length matters for routing. One that's too long leaves spare lead to coil neatly out of the way, and one that's too short won't reach. The best match is the same length and connector as your original, so measure the old one and check your model with us.
