Product details
Part 140047261262 is a genuine 500mm thermocouple from the Electrolux group, used on gas cooking appliances as part of the flame failure safety system. We've listed it under cooktops, but there's no confirmed model list on file, so check the number on your old thermocouple or send us your appliance's model number before ordering. Getting the length right matters, and this one measures 500mm.
Gas burner won't stay alight? A worn thermocouple is the usual cause
A thermocouple sits with its tip in the burner flame. Heat from the flame makes it generate a tiny voltage that holds the safety valve open. When the flame goes out, the voltage drops and the valve shuts off the gas. Once a thermocouple weakens, the classic symptom is a burner that lights while you hold the knob in but goes out as soon as you let go. You might also notice you need to hold the knob much longer than before. A bent tip sitting outside the flame can cause the same thing.

Fitting a gas thermocouple safely
This is a gas safety part, so in Australia only a licensed gas fitter should install it. Turn off the gas at the appliance isolation valve and switch off power to the ignition before any work starts. The fitter will check the tip position in the flame and test that the gas shuts off when the burner is put out.
Questions about this part
How do I check this is the right length?
Measure your old thermocouple from the tip to the end of the connector. This one is 500mm. Thermocouples come in several lengths for different burners, so a close match matters. Send us the model number off the rating plate if you'd like us to check it.
