Replacing a worn knob on a Westinghouse gas cooker

Swapping the knob

Make sure all burners and the oven are off and the cooker has cooled. Pull the old knob straight off the valve spindle, without levering against the panel. Most gas valve spindles have a flat side, so line the new knob up with it and push it on firmly. Turn it through each position to check it works and returns to off. If you smell gas at any point, turn off the supply and call a licensed gas fitter.
