Product details
Genuine Electrolux part 140041108683 is a cord winder with a 9m power cord for Electrolux vacuum cleaners, in the Australian plug version. The cord winder is the spring loaded reel inside the vacuum that stores the power lead and pulls it back in when you press the rewind button. Electrolux also makes other 9m cord winders, so check the number against your old reel or parts list.
Vacuum cord won't rewind or pull out
Cord winder faults are among the most common vacuum repairs. The spring can break or lose tension so the cord won't retract, the brake can wear so the cord won't stay out, or the reel can jam with a twisted lead. Damage to the cord itself, such as cuts, crushed sections or a broken plug, is a safety issue. Power that cuts in and out as the cord moves often points to worn contacts in the reel. With the cord supplied on the reel, a single part deals with all of these faults.

Fitting the cord winder
Unplug the vacuum and remove the dust bag or container before opening the body. Take photos of how the reel sits and how its contacts meet the motor wiring. Keep the cord wound and the spring under control as you lift the old unit out, fit the new reel the same way, and test both the rewind and the cord brake before closing up.
