Front loader not draining or dripping from the filter cap?
Water leaving a front loader passes through this filter on its way to the drain pump. It catches coins, hair clips, buttons and lint before they can jam the pump impeller. When the filter is clogged, the machine may stop with a drain error, leave water sitting in the drum or finish the cycle with clothes still soaking wet. A filter that has cracked, lost its seal or had its thread damaged by over-tightening will drip onto the floor below the access flap. Run a machine without one and debris goes straight into the pump.

Changing the pump filter
Switch the washer off at the wall first. Water will come out when the filter is opened, so lay down towels and keep a shallow tray handy. Open the access flap and empty the residual water through the small drain hose if your model has one, then twist the old filter out slowly. Clean the housing, turn the new filter in until it seats firmly, and run a rinse and spin to check for drips.
