Swapping the knob
Turn every control to off and let the cooktop cool down. Most knobs pull straight off the spindle, so grip the old one firmly and draw it towards you without twisting. Line up the socket in the new knob with the flat on the spindle and push it on until it sits snug against the panel. Check the pointer lines up with the off mark before you use the stove again.
