Why a freestanding stove needs an anti tilt plate
With the oven door open, a freestanding cooker can tip forward if someone leans on the door or a child climbs on it, bringing hot food and pans down with it. The anti tilt plate is fixed to the floor or wall behind the cooker and catches the back of the appliance so it can't lift. These plates often go missing during a kitchen renovation, or when a stove is pulled out for cleaning and never refitted. If your cooker rocks when you press down on the open door, the plate is missing or not engaged.

Installing the anti tilt plate
Isolate the cooker at the switchboard, and turn the gas off on gas models, before sliding it out. Gas reconnection must be done by a licensed gas fitter and hard-wired connections by a licensed electrician. Fix the plate securely to the floor or wall in the position given in the installation instructions, then slide the cooker back so its rear engages the plate. Test by gently pressing on the open door.

Yes. Freestanding cookers are meant to be installed with an anti tilt device to stop them tipping forward when the open door is loaded. If your stove has been moved or replaced, check the plate is fitted and engaged before using the oven again.
