The door seal, or bellow, links the front of the cabinet to the outer tub and forms a watertight ring when the door closes on it. It flexes every time the drum moves, and it collects lint, hair pins, coins and detergent residue in its folds. Replacing the door bellow

Turn off the power at the wall and close the taps. A door seal is held by a clamp at the front and a second clamp at the tub, so the job takes patience, and on many machines a panel has to come off for access. Note any alignment marks on the old seal and match them on the new one so it sits the right way round. Run a rinse afterwards and check carefully for leaks.
