Dishwasher not dissolving tablets? Check the detergent dispenser
The dispenser holds your tablet or powder in the inner door until the right point in the wash. An actuator then releases the lid and the spray washes the detergent out. When the lid catch, spring or actuator fails, the lid either won't open or won't stay shut. You'll find a whole tablet still sitting in the cup at the end of the cycle, dishes coming out dirty or gritty, or a lid that flops open as soon as you close the door. Before replacing it, make sure nothing in the bottom basket is blocking the lid from swinging open.

Swapping the dispenser
Isolate the power at the wall before you start. Open the door and remove the screws around the inner door panel to reach the back of the dispenser. Take a photo of the wiring, unplug it, then release the clips or screws holding the old unit. Seat the new dispenser evenly so it sits flat against the door, refit the panel and run a program to check the lid opens.
