What holds a washing machine door seal on the tub

A front loader door seal has two lips. The outer lip wraps around the cabinet opening, and the inner lip fits over a flange on the front of the tub. This spring sits in a groove around that inner lip and pulls it tight so water can't escape between seal and tub. A stretched, rusted or snapped spring lets the seal slip, which shows up as leaks behind the door, water under the machine and a seal that looks crooked. Fitting the tub spring

Switch off at the wall and turn off the taps. With the outer band removed and the front of the seal folded back, find the spring's hook or join and ease it off. Seat the inner lip of the seal evenly on the tub flange, then stretch the new spring into the groove, working around with a flat blade. Check it sits fully home all the way round before testing for leaks.
