Euro oven knob spinning or broken
Each knob pushes onto a shaft from a switch or thermostat behind the control panel. The hole in the back is shaped to grip a flat on that shaft, so when the plastic splits or wears smooth, the knob turns without changing the setting. You may notice it slipping, wobbling, sitting crooked or pointing at the wrong setting. A cracked knob is worth replacing before a piece breaks off and leaves the shaft bare.

Fitting the knob
Make sure the oven is turned off and the knobs are cool. Pull the old knob straight off its shaft, without twisting or levering against the panel. Line the flat inside the new knob up with the flat on the shaft and push it home firmly. Turn it through each position to check it points to the right markings.
