Signs an oven door hinge has worn out
Each hinge carries the weight of the door and uses a spring to balance it, so it opens smoothly and stays shut against the seal. With use the spring weakens, pivots wear and the hinge arm can bend if the door is leaned on. Fitting oven door hinges
Make sure the oven is cold and switched off at the isolator. If the hinges have locking levers, open the door fully and flip them over before lifting the door off, as a hinge left free can snap shut with force. Depending on the oven, the hinge comes out of the frame once a side trim is removed or the oven is pulled from its cavity. If both hinges are worn, change them together so the door closes evenly.
