Oven door not closing properly? Worn hinges are a common cause
Each oven door hangs on two hinges, one on each side. A strong spring inside each hinge counterbalances the weight of the door, which is why it stays where you leave it and closes snugly against the seal. When a spring weakens or the hinge arm wears or bends, the door drops open too fast, sits crooked, leaves a gap at the top or will not close fully. Heat then escapes, cooking times blow out and the control panel above can get hot. Because both hinges age together, many repairers change them as a pair.

Changing an oven door hinge
Make sure the oven is off and cool. Open the door fully and lock the hinge clips back as shown in your manual, then lift the door off at an angle. The hinge spring is under strong tension, so keep fingers clear and never let a hinge close while its clip is open. Remove the old hinge from the oven body, fit the new one in the same position and rehang the door.
