Omega oven bottom element not heating
Fitted at the base of the oven, the bottom element supplies the under heat for conventional cooking and base heat settings. A burnt out element leaves pastry soggy, bread pale on the bottom and casseroles slow to cook through, while the grill and fan may still heat normally. Some failures are visible as a crack, blister or bright hot spot, and others only show up on a multimeter as an open circuit. A short to earth will usually trip the safety switch as soon as bottom heat is selected.

Fitting the bottom element
Switch the oven off at the circuit breaker and let it cool completely. A licensed electrician should handle hard-wired ovens. Access is usually from the back panel or through the oven floor, so check which before you pull the oven out. Note the wiring, keep the terminals clean and tight, and run the oven on bottom heat for a few minutes to confirm it warms evenly.
