Squeaking or rumbling dryer drum
A dryer drum turns on support rollers, and the bush gives each roller a smooth running surface on its shaft. Heat, lint and the weight of wet loads slowly wear it down until the roller wobbles, drags or seizes. The result is a squeal that rises and falls with the drum, a rhythmic thumping or rumbling, or a drum that feels rough or tight when you turn it by hand with the door open. A worn support can also let the drum sit low and rub on its seals.

Replacing the roller bush
Unplug the dryer and empty the water container if it has one. Reaching the rollers normally means removing the top and front panels and lifting the drum out, so photograph the belt path and wiring first. Clear all the lint off the shafts before fitting. While the drum is out, check every roller and replace any that are worn. Turn the drum by hand to check it runs smoothly before closing up.
