Product details

The terminal block is where the mains supply cable joins the oven, and part 12530000 is the genuine block for Omega ovens, also listed for Euro. Twenty-six Omega models are on file, including the OO651XN and OO652XB, the OO655X, the OO671XN and OO686X, and the OO761XA, OO912XN and OO986X. Because this is a mains connection, 12530000 must be fitted by a licensed electrician.

Signs of a failing oven terminal block

The terminal block is usually found at the back of the oven. It takes the incoming mains wires and passes power on to the oven's internal wiring. Because a large current flows through it, a loose screw or tired connection heats up. Over time that heat discolours and melts the plastic, burns the wire ends and makes the contact worse, so the problem speeds up. Look out for an oven that cuts in and out, trips the circuit breaker, loses power completely or gives off a hot plastic smell. Scorch marks or melted plastic mean the block must be replaced, not just tightened.

Who should fit a terminal block

This part carries mains power, so it must be fitted by a licensed electrician with the oven circuit isolated at the switchboard. If the old block shows heat damage, the cable ends should be cut back to clean copper and the supply cable checked too. Every screw needs to be firmly tightened, and the cable secured so it can't pull on the terminals.

Questions about this part

Can I just tighten the screws on my old terminal block?

Not if it shows any melting, scorching or discolouration. Heat-damaged plastic won't hold connections properly and the fault will return. A licensed electrician should replace the block with 12530000 and check the cable.
